If you used to have a good routine when it comes to fitness, but lately you seem to have ‘fell off the wagon’, as some put it, you’re not alone. It’s normal to lose your motivation for numerous reasons, whether you’ve been on an extended holiday or you just want to hibernate at home during winter. Here are some tips that can help you to get your exercise groove back:
Act Like You’re A Beginner
Instead of trying to pick up where you left off, which may well leave you feeling defeated and overwhelmed, act like you’re a beginner. Instead of doing 4 sets per exercise, do 3. Instead of working out for an hour, work out for half an hour. Instead of doing 5 workouts a week, do 3. You can then build yourself up when you feel ready. The important thing is you get yourself back in the habit of moving your body.
Make A Vision Board
A vision board can help you to stay focused if you fill it with motivational pictures and quotes. You should only put things on there that really speak to you, and make sure you put it somewhere you’ll see it every day.
Get Active When You Are Most Energetic
Different people are energetic at different times of day. Some people find this is the morning, others the evening. Don’t listen to people who tell you one is better than the other, and listen to your own body.
Make A Really Upbeat Playlist
Make a great playlist that really makes you want to move. Make sure it’s long enough so it doesn’t repeat any songs. You don’t want to get sick of them either, so add as many as you can. There are ready made ones out there too, if you need inspiration. Make sure you feel like a badass!
Treat Yourself To A New Outfit
Why not treat yourself to a new outfit to make you want to get out there? You could buy a pair of trainers that make you feel good, or an entire outfit. Make sure you feel comfortable and that your clothes are suitable for the kind of workouts you like to do. If you love biking, make sure you aren’t wearing anything that could get caught or throw you off. Otherwise you could be looking at Bicycle accident claims!
Start Tracking Your Progress In Different Areas
Start tracking your progress in different areas so you can see just how well you’re doing. For instance, if you want to lose inches from your waist, measuring it every week or so will help you to keep track. Try to keep track of things like your speed and stuff too, so you can really see how you’re improving. This should keep the momentum going and keep you wanting to get better!
Well, what are you waiting for? Now that you know how to get your exercise groove back, get started! If you have any tips of your own, leave comments below.
