It is reported that 15 billion trees are cut down globally every year. And, the overall tree count on Earth has fallen 46 percent since the beginning of human civilization. In an effort to reduce the impact humans have on trees, Portland, OR-based Toast is making a commitment to plant a tree in collaboration with Trees for the Future for every share of their Earth Day image with the “OneToastOneTree” hashtag on Earth Day 2017. The expert garden service by Riverside arborists took part in this initiative and helped Toast make their dream a reality.
Every year for the past 47 years, the world has celebrated Earth Day on April 22nd. It is a day that raises awareness for environmental protection and what humans can do to help minimize our impact on the planet. “While not everyone may have the time or means to plant a tree, pick up trash along a local street or start composting, sharing a hashtag takes seconds and costs you nothing,” said Toast CEO Matias Brecher. “Toast already plants a tree for every sustainable wood product we make, but we wanted to have a way to involve the world community beyond our customers. Help us do our part and share #OneToastOneTree on Earth day!”
Toast makes stunning smartphone, laptop, tablet, gaming console and smart home gadget covers that are crafted from real wood and bamboo veneers that are responsibly grown and rainforest friendly. The company donates 1% of its annual sales to environmental non-profits and has partnered with Trees for the Future to plant one tree seedling for each product sold.
Trees for the Future believes in the power of trees to change lives. They work in five countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, training farmers and planting forest gardens to provide families with sustainable food sources, livestock feed, products to sell, fuel wood, and increased income. Tree for the Future’s forest garden programs provide income, empowerment, and education. Learn more about the organization at trees.org.
To date, Toast has planted over 23,951 trees through Trees for the Future. To help increase this number and reforest the Earth in honor of Earth Day 2017, be sure to share this photo with the #OneToastOneTree on social media on April 22nd.
