It is very important for your child’s well being and safety that from the moment your baby leaves the hospital he/she is properly restrained in a car seat until he/she grows into adult seat belts.  Generally,  an infant should be in a rear facing car seat until one year old and 20lbs.  In fact, every state requires children up to age 4  and 40lbs to be in a car seat or booster seat until 8 years old and 80 lbs.  State laws are constantly changing, so its imperative to double check your individual state car seat law to make sure your meeting the requirements.

I will never forget as long as I live the sure panic  I felt when I looked in the rear view mirror and saw my son climbing around in the back seat as I was traveling down the highway.  Apparently, he slipped his arms out of the harness and was able to get loose enough to maneuver himself out of the seat.  I immediately had to pull over to secure him in the car seat.  If I would have gotten into an accident he would have been severely injured and it would have been my fault for not properly taking the steps to tighten the harness correctly.  SHAMEFUL!  If anything happened to him I would have never been able to forgive myself.  This taught me a valuable lesson to always double check that the seat is securely installed and he is restrained before I pull out of my driveway.

    Oh, man, I would love to win this for my mother. She has so much trouble fastening the one she has when she ferries around my 2-year-old nephew!
