Happy Earth Day! I hope your celebrating by finding ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle! The history of Earth Day goes back as far as 1970 when Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, took a stand against air and water pollution and forced environmental protection onto the national political agenda. Nelson announced the idea for a “national teach-in on the environment” to the national media and as a result the sustainable environmental movement began with 20 million Americans uniting to protest against the deterioration of the environment. Thanks to the Senator Nelson, the fist Earth Day led to to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts! Check it out!
I was going to celebrate by planting some veggies, but its just way to cold here in NY and the weather isn’t cooperating. Its a chilly 48 degrees outside and I’m going to have to put it off for another day. How about you? How are you spending your Earth Day?

Made three gallons of my own laundry detergent. Not sure if that counts for anything, but maybe a teensy bit less packaging in the world, less energy consumed making and shipping it. Used elbow grease to grate the Fels Naptha. I like the way it cleans my clothes.
