My daughter, now fourteen, altered her sense of style practically every year after turning nine. Basically, if I would have revamped her bedroom ever time she wished me too…I might be residing on Skid Row begging for quarters. I realize as soon as a child develops into a teen, that little ones furniture and bedroom decor just won’t do. Nevertheless, there’s a strategy for giving a teen’s room an awesome fresh look without the need of breaking the bank!
First of all, you most likely don’t need to toss out that old bedroom furniture. Unless the furniture is entirely nicked up and ruined, you might be able to give it a cool facelift with some fresh paint and new fixtures. Before you begin on that, however, you should determine what theme she or he would choose to use to design the room.
Present day trendy new looks are primarily based around contemporary, “cool,” or retro styles. My daughter actually has a decent design sense, as I’m certain your teenager does as well (most likely from viewing a great deal of TV!), Therefore, selecting a theme ought to be very simple and you could possibly design an extremely awesome room by merely incorporating some new accents. Naturally, you might need to invest in newer furnishings like a new workdesk to do their school home work at, but you will save money by giving the existing furniture a different appearance as pointed out above.
Fortunately, you don’t need to spend a great deal on accents for your teens bedroom. The majority of the larger sized department stores offer fashionable furnishings and accessories at discount prices. An additional way to create a different look would be to purchase inexpensive shelves, or if you’re handy you possibly can build them yourself. The shelves should help lessen the clutter by placing all of their stuff that might typically be thrown on the floor on them. This will not only result in the room appearing tidier, but promote your teen to become much more organized.
You can give your teens bedroom a fun but sophisticated look by painting the room in a “cool” shade like vibrant violet, sage, or dark chocolate and utilizing the accents as focal points. Comfy bedroom rugs such as a cozy flokati or decorative pattern rug are yet another thought. The rugs will prove to add a classy atmosphere and you could even hang up the area rugs on the wall or place across the pre-existing carpeting to give the floor a completely new appearance.
Changing the bedding to a little something “funky” or neutral in velvet and updating the drapes with pole tab tops curtains will add spice to your teens space and present a far more mature feeling without having to be pricey. Just be sure you coordinate the color scheme, in order that it doesn’t clash with the walls as well as other decor.
What bedroom makeover tips do you have to share that could modernize a teen’s room on a tight budget?

I was lucky and found some bedsheets on sale that worked as curtains, and a couple of throw pillows that were also on sale. I also had an area rug in the attic that worked well in the room. We got some paint for practically nothing (overruns from the hardware store that we tinted to make the shade we were looking for). My son is a decent artist so he did his own artwork.

Good ideas about décorating. Teens can be picky sometimes for sure. If they insist on redecorating then set a budget for them and help them find good sales on linen, paint, curtains etc…. Let them do the painting too.
