Previously I had been associated with Walmart’s “More Than 11 Moms” network and participated in campaigns featuring Great Value products. Being completely truthful, I have found the vast majority of Great Value products to be delicious and taste pretty much as good or better than the branded items. There has been a handful of cases in which I haven’t been particularly satisfied with the non food products . For example, the Great Value kitchen bags rip easily and don’t perform as well as they should. Nevertheless, purchasing Great Value products helps to reduce your overall grocery costs and if you’re on a tight budget can stretch out your hard earned dollars so that you can put more food on the family table. With that said, you still ought to price compare, since I have actually noticed on numerous occasions the Great Value products being priced higher than some lower brand name labels. Also, when the items are only a few pennies difference in value I typically select the branded label if it’s a household favorite.
Before I proceed any further, I must make it crystal clear I have no authority or authorization to communicate on behalf of Walmart, nor any other company for that matter. Occasionally, I review products given to me as samples, however in no shape or manner am I personally compensated to present a favourable opinion. In the event the item is crap than I’m going to let you know my genuine thoughts regarding it. Professionally, it doesn’t reflect how much money I make or have a adverse impact upon my website. Chances are you’ll see more positive critiques on my site, since I don’t consent to evaluate products I don’t believe will be a good match for me and my readers. From time to time a product I receive doesn’t perform as good as I feel it ought to and you will then see me give suggestions about how I would like to see it improved upon. I can’t change the item and all I am able to do is express my honest thoughts and opinions.
With all that being said above, I would like to reach the root of why I’m sharing this to you. Lately, I have been getting email messages from troubled readers who are not satisfied with a number of the Great Value products they have purchased. Even though I sympathize with the frustration of buying a product or service that doesn’t fulfill its advertisement, I can’t change it or get a reimbursement for you. The thing I can do is discuss your concern in hopes that a Walmart Representative will read through this post, along with your complaints, then investigate the problem making some positive improvements if needed. Also, I feel I should mention that not at all times is it the manufacture’s fault and a product may happen to be tampered with by a prankster shopper or damaged in the course of shipment. I think we need to all keep that at the back of our minds before pointing accusing fingers.
I have copied the complaint email messages I received below in their entirety without any editing or correction. Meaning, they may contain grammatical errors, so don’t shoot the messenger (that is me) if you notice a word incorrectly spelled. As increasing numbers of emails enter my inbox regarding this topic (and they will) I plan on updating this write-up with them. Let us make an effort to be considerate of the troubled consumers as well as the manufacture. Furthermore, I figured it would be a good idea to include a Walmart contact phone number in case anyone wants to try and resolve the issues they may have and possibly get their money back. The number is 1-800-925-6278.
Walmart Great Value Complaint Emails

Message Body: We just opened a can of great value corn and it was dog food instead. Walmart refuses to do anything about it.

Subject: Great Value Strawberry Awake Cereal
Message Body: The cereal is excellent, but all the strawberries are all on top. Could you mix them in some way? The first three bowls had lots of strawberries in them, then there were just frosted flakes. The next box I bought, I took the bag out of the box, and the berries were all on top. We really like them, but find we have to dump them into a huge bowl first to mix the berries in. A lot of extra work.

Subject: kitchen trash bags Message Body:
I think you kitchen bags are terrible. They only have 1 set of extension to use as ties…this allows the contents to leak out since it is NOT closed all the way. I will NOT be buying anymore of the great value brands again !!!!!! If you can’t get the trash bags right… I figure the food stuff is not good. Just wanted you to know… Thanks for wasting my money on a necessity

Subject: Gum in yogurt!
Body: To Whom this concerns: First of all I would like to tell you that I am a mother of four. I have purchased many Great Value Products and we enjoy them very much. I have never had any complaints. I have been buying your 4 pk yogurt for a very long time. Recently I purchased some and while I was sitting at lunch with my coworkers I took a bite of the peach yogurt and thought something felt odd. I thought it was possibly a piece of peach with a little fuzz on it. When I atarted to chew it had a mint taste. I spit it on a napkin and it was GUM already CHEWED! Needless to say we were all grossed out. I felt physically ill. I called Walmart and the number on the yogurt container. They were very apologetic. But I find it hard to eat that yogurt again. My family is still eating it. But I am very hesitant to eat it. I am extremely disappointed about this. Can you please check into this. The woman I spoke to from the number on the yogurt said aomeone would call me but no one has. It’s been at least two weeks. I don’t want anything from this. I just want someone to check into it so it doesnt happen to someone else. Thank you very much for your time!

Subject: great value apple drink mix
Message Body: Have you stopped making the sugar free apple drink mix? My husband and I have trouble drinking plain water but the apple mix was so good we were drinking it pretty much all the time. If it still is available, would you please advise me where I might find it here in the Clermont, Fl. area.

As a review blogger myself, I can see why people may email you voicing their concerns, praises or complaints on products. However, it seems all the people who emailed you think you’re customer service or can somehow fix the problem. Are those people regular readers of yours or do you think they’re people who googled “Wal-Mart help” and ended up coming to your blog thinking you could change the products? Just curious.

Good question Terra! I’m thinking they may believe I can help them, because I was part of the Walmart’s More Than 11 Moms a while back ago.

I bought a bag of Salad today the number on the bad was TFT2183PJ. It had two small pieces of wood in it. That is not sanitary, and it could cause someone to get choked.
