Calling all “green” savvy moms who like to clean their home with non-toxic cleaning products they know are not only better for their family, but better for the environment as well! Do you enjoy saving money? Want to learn tips how you can reduce your energy bill, conserve water, and get rid of stubborn stains without the use of harsh chemicals using a common household product you more than likely already have within your kitchen cabinet? Take the “Cleanhouse Challenge!”
Last month Seventh Generation, the innovator in green household cleaning, and Real Simple, a respected women’s lifestyle magazine collaborated to bring green consumers the Cleanhouse Challenge, an interactive experience made to help educate shoppers about keeping a ecofriendly, healthier house, while rewarding them with coupons and prizes.
How it works is users virtually visit each room in the house and click on the hot spots to uncover useful cleaning tips and easy environmental and cost-saving ideas that have been created by Real Simple and Seventh Generation’s experts. Each room in the virtual house reveals simple steps and green suggestions like how to disinfect toys, care for the finest wood surfaces naturally, remove stains from shower curtains and improve indoor air quality. Additionally, there are quick and interesting interactive tips videos featured in the virtual house.
This is what the very nice people at Seventh Generation and Real Simple had to say about the Cleanhouse Challenge promotion.
“Seventh Generation customers and Real Simple readers are seeking better and brighter ways to care for their homes, families and the planet. We are optimistic that they will be entertained, enlightened and hopefully inspired by the Cleanhouse Challenge,” said Nick Guastaferro, director of marketing at Seventh Generation.
“This is the first time that Real Simple has built an interactive, educational game that will live both on the website and on social platforms. This is a perfect example of the type of partnerships Real Simple is building in the marketplace,” says Amy Oelkers, Real Simple Digital Sales Director. “Learning about cleaning has never been so easy, fun and rewarding”.
After touring each room, participants will be given the chance to download coupons for discounts on Seventh Generation products and Facebook badges to show their expertise on how to keep a clean green home. If users complete every room of the house, Seventh Generation will donate 10 dollars (up to $15,000) to 350.org, an environmental organization focused on solving the climate crisis.
Ready to take the Cleanhouse Challenge? Visit either RealSimple.com, Seventhgeneration.com or Seventh Generation Facebook page before October 31.
NEW Seventh Generation Products
Seventh Generation recently expanded its product line to include three Specialty Cleaners, Hand Care Dish Liquid, and Natural Laundry Detergent Packs.
All three of Seventh Generation new specialty cleaners contain a powerful unique blend of plant-based ingredients and organic coconut oil that deliver a strong performance, but without harsh fumes and toxic chemicals. The Wood, Granite/ Stone, and Stainless Steel cleaners are available in 18 oz bottles and may be purchased online for $4.99. They are all USDA Certified Biobased Products made from non-toxic, biodegradable formulas.
The Wood Cleaner has an amazing scent of Lemon Chamomile and leaves wood surfaces clean, conditioned, and looking beautiful! What I adore about this wood cleaner (besides the wonderful smell) is it doesn’t give your furniture a greasy or oily feel like other cleaners do. Plus, it shines and protects the surface without having to be concerned of waxy build-up. This is my favorite item out of the new Seventh Generation product line.
Unfortunately, I don’t have granite countertops (I wish I did) or any stone surfaces in my home, so I didn’t get to use the Granite & Stone Cleaner for its intended purpose. However, I do have ceramic tiles as a backsplash in my kitchen and sprayed the Granite & Stone Cleaner all over it. The cleaner worked wonderfully! It contains a pleasant scent of Mandarin Orange and cuts through grime leaving the surface clean and shiny.
The new Stainless Steel Cleaner also has a delightful Mandarin Orange fragrance and stands up against dirt plus fingertips giving your stainless steel appliances a streak-free shine. I was impressed how it removed the fingerprints from my stainless steel small appliances and left them looking bright and newer. It definitely worked to restore the shine.
The Hand Care Dish Liquid is offered in two varieties – Lavender & Vanilla and Free and Clear. Producing a premium grease-cutting performance, the natural dish liquid contains Advanced HerbaVera Moisturizing Technology, so it’s gentle on both your hands and the earth. The non-toxic product’s moisturizers are derived from aloe vera, glycerin, and guar bean. It is a USDA Certified Biobased Product and currently available online in 18 oz convenient step-saving bottles for $3.49 each.
I am a big fan of Seventh Generation’s Dish Liquid. I do most, if not all, the dish washing in my home, so I need a cleaner that not only makes my dishes sparkle, but also keeps my hands from becoming dry and over sensitive. I find their dish liquid to work the best for my hands. I have used other green dish liquids before and even though they worked great on my glasses and dishes, my hands would get itchy red patches. Apparently, I was hypersensitive to a natural ingredient in the formula. However, I have had no problems with the Seventh Generation Dish Liquid and it is a preferred brand in my home. I guess the thing to remember is even though a product claims to be “green” it doesn’t mean you still can’t be allergic to a natural ingredient in it. What I love about Seventh Generation is they have nothing to hide and list the ingredients on the packaging labels of their products or display them clearly online allowing consumers to be fully aware of what they are purchasing.
Seventh Generation’s dirt-fighting triple-enzyme formula you have grown to love now comes in extremely convenient single dose packs putting an end to the messy measuring and guesswork of how much to use. All you need to do is drop 1 pack in for normal loads or two packs for large or heavily soiled loads. The packs dissolve quickly in hot or cold water and work hard to get tough stains out. The Natural Laundry Detergent Packs are a USDA Certified Biobased Product containing no dyes, synthetic fragrances, nor optical brighteners. They come in a 100% recycled plastic container and are available for purchase online in two sizes: 30 Count – $9.99 and 50 Count – $14.99, in the scents of Mandarin & Sandalwood or Free & Clear.
I received the Natural Laundry Detergent Packs in the Mandarin & Sandalwood scent. The detergent made my laundry smell wonderful and clean! The packs are very lightweight, easy to use, and best of all —mess free! If you already like the Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent you are going to adore this product!
