Kids birthday parties are fun, right? Cake, balloons, games, gifts…. all of these things sound like they are the perfect recipe for the best time ever. But it may come as a surprise to learn that increasing number of parents are feeling stressed out about the amount of pressure which placed upon them by both their peers and themselves, to throw parties which outstrip all those that have gone before.
Present Buying Panic
In particular, present buying has turned from a fun activity into an increasingly frantic scrabble to get your hands on the must-have item du jour, be it a video game, talking toy or the latest high-top trainers. And what with kids becoming increasingly media savvy (without becoming more money savvy in the process), it’s simply not enough to palm them off with a cheaper alternative to the latest branded item that everyone in the playground is talking about.
It’s My Party ….
Similarly with parties: long gone are the days when a kid would be over the moon about a cake in the shape of a caterpillar and perhaps some balloon animals tied by an uncle in a clown costume. These days it’s all about flashing lights and loud noises, expensive trips to the cinema or laser tag, and more brand name soda than you could shake a stick at. But when it comes to funding all of these things, many parents simply come up short, and resort to borrowing in order that their child might hold their head up at school the day after.
How to Get it Right
Surely there must be some kind of compromise, I hear you cry! Well now, there is. For all you frazzled and stressed out parents, http://www.thumbsupuk.com/ has everything you’ll ever need to make sure your child’s party goes off with a bang. And not only that, but they have loads of amazing gift ideas which are perfect to give to both your child and for your child to give to their friends. From funky gadgets to party games and costumes, they’re the one stop shop for everything fun, exciting and totally wacky!
Of course, the most important thing is to remember that, when it comes to your turn to throw a party, you shouldn’t stress about trying to make your child’s event better than anyone else’s. What really matters is whether or not your little one has a good time, so remember to talk to them first about what they would like, and always stick to your guns if they start asking for items which are simply out of your price range.

Thank goodness when it came to birthday parties my boys weren’t too fussy. A few balloons, some streamers, and a nice birthday gift and they were happy 🙂
I’ll have to take a look at thumbsupuk.com. Never heard of them before but I will check them out.

I think kids parties have gone way over the top,,bounce houses ,renting an buying of huge tents,,good grief,,back when my kids were little McDonalds had parties with the cake an supplies an it was a good deal,,I think parents have let the kid dictate what they think they want an usually that doesn’t come in the budget,,,how about going to the park or to a like creek for a picnic,,we put up a volley ball net we borrowed from my neighbor an had a cookout for my son’s 16th an we had kids over for a poot party for my daughters’16 we weren’t out that much,it was what we could afford,,ive heard of ppl going into more debt for expensive parties,,not me
