Accuse me of being a hopeless romantic, but I love weddings! The big event is one of life’s most memorable and celebrated moments. From seeing the bride in her beautiful wedding dress, witnessing the adoring vows exchanged between the bride and groom, to the fun reception, I cannot get enough of weddings. Yet, I have to confess I enjoy the pre-wedding parties leading up to the ceremony the best like the Engagement, Bridesmaids Luncheon, Showers, Bachelorette Party, and Rehearsal Dinner. My favorite of all the get-togethers is the Rehearsal Dinner. The dinner is usually hosted by the groom’s or bride’s parents the night before the wedding and has an intimate, casual, and comfortable atmosphere. It is a good time to get to know everyone participating in the ceremony and a perfect opportunity for both sides of the families to get acquainted. The occasion is even quainter if the dinner is held at a family member’s home, since it gives a personal “get to know you” touch.
The last Rehearsal Dinner I attended was years ago and took place at an extravagant Chinese restaurant. The atmosphere was uptight and the distraction of the service was a big downfall. It would have been so much more picturesque if they would have had the dinner at someone’s home and the meal catered or personally prepared by members of the party.
