If you’ve been away on holiday this summer then you’ve no doubt experienced the dreaded post-holiday blues. It usually sets in a couple of days after you return, although it can be sooner if you’re back to work quickly, and can last for a good few weeks. However, there are some ways that you can help to combat the blues and help to get back to everyday life…
Have a few days off before you go back to work
If you can then having just a few days between coming back off holiday and going back to work is a great idea. It gives you a little bit of time to get used to being back before getting on with the daily grind and means you can do all the things like unpacking that you don’t want to have to do after work. Holidays can be tiring, too, particularly if there’s a lot of traveling involved, so it’ll give you chance to catch up on some sleep.
Book another holiday
One of the most popular times of the year for people to book holidays is right after they come back, and for good reason. Booking another holiday soon after your return home is the perfect way of staving off those blues and gives you something to look forward to. It doesn’t even have to be a major holiday; just a few days away somewhere is enough to make coming home slightly more bearable.
Sort out the holiday photos
Looking at your holiday photos may not sound like a good way to hold off the holiday blues, but it might make you feel like your holiday’s lasting a little longer and it also means that the memories are still fresh in your head. To really make the holiday more memorable, then you could even print them off and make a photo book or have them printed on something cool such as a mug or phone case like they do on Zippi.
Bring the holiday back with you
Your holiday doesn’t necessarily have to end the moment you step back in the country. Instead, why not try and bring some of it back with you? For example, if you’ve been somewhere with great food such as Italy or France, then try to make some recipes from those countries at home. The smells and tastes will transport you right back to your holiday.
Look after yourself
Some people can genuinely suffer from depression when they return from a holiday so it’s important to look after yourself to help fight it off. Eat healthily and get plenty of exercise and this will raise your energy levels and just generally give you a more positive outlook on life, which is vital if you’re longing to be back on holiday.

I don’t get depressed after holidays. It can be difficult dealing with people but it could be all year too for me. Thanks for the great tips though. They could work anytime of the year too.
