People under the age of 45 take greater interest in astrology. While older generations dismiss esoteric sciences, alternative medicines, and non-medicinal ways of interacting with the body and earth, the intuitive and humanistic approach is common with tools of the digital age.
For example, a dating site like Match.com uses answers, preferences, and online behavior to make estimations about one’s romantic matches. It’s working for a number of people as more take interest in a systematized approach to dating. Astrology, tarot readings, and numerology seek the same solutions, using facts to make reasonable estimations.
Weather or Not
Whether or not you take full stock in astrology as a science, one researcher observes the relation between signs of the Zodiac, traits of those born under the signs, and the weather accompanying those times of year. For example, a baby, with its first world interactions taking place under high heat and humidity, could be deemed irascible or restless, or having a temper. It’s not an exact prediction, as the researcher observes, yet the signs of the Zodiac can relate to regional weather patterns.
Tarot or Not to Tarot
Tarot cards feature symbols and numbers that make sense of the present and predict the future. To some regard, the reading can shape the future and consciousness. For example, if a reader tells us we’re going to meet someone special, that may influence how we act and react in social situations. A gregarious nature begets more interactions and potential love leads. What becomes the cause of the theoretical romantic connection – the tarot card reading or its influence on subsequent behavior? In regard to positive effects, does it matter?
More Scientific?
A recent survey found that an increasing percentage of younger people believe astrology is reliable or ‘scientific,’ which differs from a trend of past generations. While more data is needed to make a definitive claim, one possibility is the current generation’s views on other once-conservative issues such as getting a tattoo, marrying those of other races or the same sex, and having children out of wedlock. Maybe the younger generation thinks outside of the conservative frame of older generations. Astrology isn’t taught at Ivy League colleges, yet today’s generation is willing to accept a psychic insight before a degree that earns little money upon graduation.
The Weather Person Lies Too
While a person can agree or disagree with a tarot card reading, seeing predictions come to fruition or not, those on the weather channels ‘lie’ as well, using resources at hand to make knowledgeable predictions about the future. Winds shift, temperatures fluctuate, and storms change course, becoming the ‘excuses’ of well-respected weather personalities, yet a fortuneteller or tarot card reader must be infallible to gain mass acceptance? The esoteric is reliable for those who have faith, similar to those who check the paper or local weather channel for weather prediction.
More see reason to respect Zodiac signs and astrological readings. Once ‘entertainment,’ astrology is becoming widely accepted as a ‘truth.’
