It’s now that time of year again where we want to get our summer holiday booked. After all, we want something for our family to head to. And we want to get it booked before the price gets too expensive. However, as much as family holidays are fantastic, they are pricey. In fact, a lot of the time it can be vacations that send families spiraling into debt. But it doesn’t always have to be the case. Here are some ways you can have an amazing family vacation without breaking the bank.
Travel during less popular times
A lot of people opt to go at the end of July or the start of August for their holiday. After all, it tends to be when destinations are scorching. And the kids are on break from school, so you can easily travel during these periods. But if you do go during a popular time, you can expect huge prices waiting for you. After all, travel companies know a lot of people want to travel at these times. Therefore, they hike up the prices to ensure they make the most money. So if you want to cut some costs for your holiday, you should opt to vacate during less popular times. For example, just before the kids go back would be ideal if you are looking for a lower price. Or you could even go slightly earlier in the year in June when the prices won’t be so high!
Pay the money back over time
It’s so difficult to pay off a holiday in one go. After all, it might be a couple of grand which will dent your account. And if you do pay it, it can leave your family struggling for months. Therefore, to ensure you can go on a family vacation without getting into debt, you should consider paying the money back over time. For one thing, a lot of travel companies will allow you to pay the money for the holiday over months. Therefore, it can be a lot easier to pay off than the whole thing. Or you might even consider getting a loan which you can then pay off monthly. There are a lot of sites that compare loans, so you know which one will give you the best deal; you should read this first though to ensure you don’t end up in debt. After all, you don’t want to get a loan which has a high-interest rate that you end up struggling to pay off! Or you could always use a credit card which will enable you to pay it off over time.
Have a holiday in your home country
A lot of the time it ends up being the flight and transportation costs which can cost the earth. Therefore, if you want to bring the cost of your holiday down, you should consider staying on your home turf instead. After all, you can then use your own car to get to the destination. And you will save a ton on flights and transport the other end. And just because you aren’t going abroad, it doesn’t mean you won’t have a fabulous vacation. After all, you can still have an amazing holiday visiting new places in your home country!

There are also numerous places to visit within 100 miles of any town in America. For $10 in gas the family can learn more about their local area.

I definitely used your first tip when we went to Disney World. We went in October when the kids were still young enough to miss school and be able to catch up without a problem.

I like your tip about traveling during less popular times. For some reason we always seem to go when everyone else is going. This year I am going to make sure that we go at a time when most people are done with their vacations
