Sugar and Spice and Nothing Nice -Smurfette!

Are you a Smurfaholic? I’m am definitely a Smurf fan!  I grew up watching the little magical blue forest dwellers every cartoon Saturday morning on NBC during the 80’s.  Of course Smurfette quickly became my favorite Smurf, since she stood out most from the rest of the blue elf like creatures living in the Smurfy village.

Unlike the other Smurfs, Smurfette was created by Gargomel, an evil wizard.  He made her from a magical lump of blue clay in hopes she would help him and Azrael (his cat) find the Smurf Village.   Gargomel was sick of all the happiness in the forest and wanted to put an end to all the cheer.  Trying to get them through their hearts, Smurfette was born with a splash of cinnamon spice, a dram of crocodile tears, half a pack of lies, chatter of a magpie and the hardest stone for her heart.

Originally, Smurfette had dark hair and was sceaming with Gargomel to capture the Smurfs.  Her plan was to flood them out by opening the dam.  Feeling guilty she comes clean and tells the Smurfs she was working with the nasty old wizard.   Wanting to become a real Smurf,  Smurfette is changed by Papa Smurf’s spell.

The thing about Smurfette is her name really doesn’t tell you much about her personality unlike all the rest of the blue, three apple high creatures.  She is kind of a mystery!
