If you’ve got a spare room that isn’t being used, how about turning it into your very own home gym? If you love to work out but hate going to the local gym, then this is the perfect solution. No need to be self-conscious about how you look anymore, you are in the comfort of your own you home, and you can work on whatever you like without being paranoid.
Here are some ideas of things you will need when you start converting.
MIRRORS
Even if you’re not a fan of looking at yourself in the mirror, especially when you’re all sweaty – get over it. If you don’t watch yourself from time to time, you may not realize if you’re doing something incorrectly, and this could lead to causing yourself an injury. So embrace the hot mess staring back at you. You’re working hard, you should be proud of yourself!
WEIGHTS
Weights are an important tool to add to your collection. You can do so many different things with them. You don’t just have to bring them up and down over your head. You can use them for more resistance, like when you’re doing squats and lunges. They will just make it that little bit more intense, and you’ll start to feel the burn, and who doesn’t like to feel the burn?
EXERCISE BIKE
If you enjoy your cardio, then cycling is a great way to burn off your unwanted fat. Cycling not only builds muscle, but it’s very easy on the joints, which is what makes it such a popular form of exercise. Have a look at these sunny health and fitness bike reviews from exercisebikesexpert.com before making your mind up. Something to consider when getting a bike is the saddle. This is overlooked, but if you don’t have a good one, you’re not going to be comfortable in the slightest, you’ll end up with a numb bum and a messed up back. So get something that is nice and padded, and can support your body weight.
PUNCH BAG
If you like to box, then instead of tracking down a partner, just install a punching bag! Boxing is brilliant for improving your total body strength, even just the punching itself is working so many different parts of your body, not just your arms, but your core muscles too. It also gives you better hand-eye coordination due to the quick ‘think fast’ nature.
It’s even a fantastic stress reliever. Just picture your enemy, or your fears, or your insecurities, and visualize beating them as you go ham on the poor punching bag.
MUSIC
In order to create the best environment possible, you will need music and some damn good speakers. Music isn’t just ‘nice to listen to,’ it’s so much more than that. Can you imagine walking into a gym and it being silent? The only noise would be the sound of weights crashing and random grunts…
Tunes are what motivates you to push through, whether that be working out, or in your general day to day life.
So make sure you turn the volume up!

My husband has created his ideal home gym over the years, with a Smith machine, sled (I call it the butt machine, lol), free weights, etc.

Even though we have a gym membership we hardly ever go, I have started youtubing fitness videos and have been doing 4 a day all month long. Can do in my home whenever I have time.
