Before motherhood “me” time was abundant. In fact, every waking hour was dedicated to “me” time. From self-motivated career choices, hanging out with friends after work, to frequent expensive visits to the hairdressers, life was devoted to what I wanted when I wanted it. Then I got pregnant and life as I knew it changed forever. My attention went from worrying about what shoes matched with my pricey handbag to how to scale down to afford nursery essentials! Once my beautiful child was born the concerns of “me” time flew out the door and I was just happy to get a moment to wash off the baby spit!
3am wake ups, chaperoning field trips, school lunches, damage control after playtime – being a mother has never been easy. Especially, when it comes to balancing any “me” time in between maintaining the role of supermom. Though motherhood is the most rewarding feeling one can have, it is no surprise that it is the most exhausting task either. However, with Mother’s Day quickly approaching, it’s time to make some way to recharge with these tips of how to balance mommy time while still keeping your sanity through “me” time!
The Early Bird Catches the Worm
While the saying is a bit cliché and can make any already exhausted mom want to crawl even further under the comforter, this is one of the simplest tips. By getting up early and approaching the day head on (especially if it is before the little ones are up) it can give you that time to collect yourself for the day and have that essential cup of morning Joe. You’ll definitely feel more prepared for those hectic days when you start yours with a little relaxation!
Take Advantage of Nap-Time
Having a set nap-time can be a life saver to not just refuel your rambunctious squad, but also yourself! An hour out of the day gives them a chance to replenish and it can give you one too. When the little ones are finally settled, give yourself a chance to have a 20 minute nap too and still leave you time to catch up on your favorite show!
Weekly Date Night
It is not only important to carve out time for yourself, but also for your partner! One day a week, have the kids spend some quality time having fun and getting spoiled by their grandparents while you and your love reconnect over dinner. With Mother’s Day quickly approaching, it will give sometime for you and your significant other to reconnect and unwind from the chaos of the rest of the week.
Don’t Be Afraid to Treat Yourself
You may feel guilty whenever you consider doing something selfish, but don’t be! You’re important to, and there is no shame in occasionally treating yourself. For instance, buying that special shampoo, getting your hair done, or trying that new restaurant in town on your lunch break, is a well-deserved treat to revitalize. Not only are the options endless, but also the improvement in your wellbeing from a confidence boost.
Ready, Set, Stocked!
The most important tip of all: Be ready. Between school and daycare, it is not uncommon to have your squad feeling a little less than perfect. Sickness can strike at any time, and having the essentially important medicine ready on hand when #SickJustGotReal can keep both parties from wanting to rip their hair out! Pfizer Consumer Healthcare has an array of products to help your sick kiddo. Whether it is Children’s Advil for aches and pains in a variety of tasty flavors or Children’s Dimetapp Multi-Symptom Cold Relief Dye-Free to help relieve your little one’s cough and congestion, Pfizer has your back! Having these and numerous other medicines Pfizer offers ready to go, will leave more time at the end of the day for you to get some essential R&R. And when they are feeling better, you will too!

For me, it’s all about planning. When you plan ahead, you have more time to do things instead of trying to iron out problems. And when you do take time out you can do it without worrying about stuff.
