Loose or sagging skin can be emotionally frustrating! As the years march on, your skin tends to lose its elasticity during the natural part of the aging process. Other factors like genetics, childbirth, extreme or rapid weight loss, physical strains and lifestyle (smoking, sun tanning, ect…) are known to be contributors to sagging skin as well. Regardless of the cause, you don’t have to live with the annoying sagging skin. There are effective methods which can be used to reduce or eliminate skin sags. The first such method you may think of is surgery, but non-surgical options, such as laser skin tightening, are also available.
Why Surgery is Not Always Necessary to Tighten Loose Skin
If you have extremely loose skin, such as after pregnancy or extreme weight loss, your doctor may recommend surgery to tighten it. However, mild to moderate skin sags may not always require you to endure the stress of a surgical procedure, which typically involves anesthesia and a long recovery period. Instead, there are several non-surgical options to pick from, and one of them is laser skin tightening treatment.
Laser Treatments Are Less Invasive Than Surgical Procedures
If you want to get rid of mild to moderate skin sags without prolonged recovery periods then lasers offer one good option because laser treatments can be done quickly. In fact, when you undergo skin treatment through the use of a medical laser device you may have to spend less than an hour at your local skincare clinic. Additionally, your body will not have to endure the stress of anesthesia. Tightening your skin using laser treatment is also far less expensive than doing so through the use of a surgical procedure.
How Lasers Cause Skin Cells to Tighten
Lasers cause skin cells to tighten in two distinct but somewhat related ways. First, having a laser treatment can damage your skin just enough to make your body increase its defenses. In particular, your body will begin producing more skin-strengthening collagen. Second, the collagen which already exists in your system and is helping to bind your skin cells together will tighten up. Both benefits together will lead to tighter skin.
Parts of Your Body Which Can Benefit from Laser Skin Tightening
Lasers can be used to tighten skin on almost any part of your body. However, common areas requiring tightening include the arms, abdomen, legs and neck. You can also use lasers to treat sagging skin on your face. However, the offending area cannot be too close to your eyes. Also, if you have treatment anywhere on your face, your technician should provide you with protective eye coverings prior to the procedure.
How Much You Are Likely to Spend on Laser Skin Tightening
It is important for you to be aware that laser skin tightening is an elective procedure, which means that your medical insurance will most likely not cover the cost of treatment. You must also note that each clinic offers procedures at different rates. Typically skincare clinics in more urban areas charge more for the procedure, which also varies in cost based on the size of the section of skin you want to treat. Therefore, you may spend anywhere from approximately $500 to $3,500 for a single laser skin tightening appointment.
When you are deciding whether or not you can afford laser treatment for your sagging skin you must also talk to a clinician about the number of treatments you are likely to require. If your clinician recommends three or four treatments then your costs will be multiplied as such, unless you go against his or her recommendation and only have a single treatment. However, that is typically not a good idea because, if you do so, you may not achieve the tighter skin you want.

This sounds good, it is pretty expensive, though. If I could afford it, I’d do some “renovating”! I have to check this out!
