Your Oahu vacation rentals have been booked and you’re ready to have a vacation you will never forget. You’ve made plans to hit the beach nearly every day, and you’ve picked out some bars and clubs that you want to visit, but where are you going to eat?
One of the great things about going on vacation to Oahu is you know the local food is going to be great, but where should you dine? Where will you get a good meal for less than you thought, and where can you dine out in style? We’re going to take a look at this now:
The Waialua Bakery
Found at 66-200 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, Oahu, the Waialua Bakery is one of those must-visit places. Thanks to its glorious home made delicacies such as their Triple Crown sandwich and their Vegi Burger, you can enjoy a good meal every day. Serving American-style meals and vegetarian dishes along with ice cream and smoothies the Bakery serves some ridiculously large portions so you need to be hungry when you arrive.
Although there isn’t much seating at the Bakery, you can always order your food to go. Decorated in a unique way and hugely popular, many of the dishes are made from scratch and some of the ingredients are grown on the owner’s farm. Open Monday – Saturday 10 am – 5 pm, the Waialua Bakery is definitely well worth a visit.
The Elephant Shack
Situated at 66-145 Kamehameha Hwy, Pupukea, Oahu, The Elephant Shack is home to some very tasty Thai food. If you’re looking to enjoy a delicious meal that has been freshly made, you need to visit The Elephant Shack. Relatively inexpensive and with a wide range of meals on offer, The Elephant Shack has an impressive menu and offers some relatively large portions.
Using locally-sourced ingredients and with very friendly staff and great prices, if you are looking to enjoy some freshly made Thai dishes, this is the place to come. Open 7 days a week from 12 pm – 9 pm, come down to the Shack and enjoy some very tasty dishes.
La Mer
Located at Halekulani, 2199 Kalia Road, If you are looking to dine out in style and spoil yourself in some upmarket surroundings you need to visit La Mer. The only restaurant in Hawaii to receive a coveted award on more than one occasion for their service and exceedingly good food, La Mer is well worth a visit.
Dine in sheer luxury overlooking the ocean, sit inside and enjoy the fine décor and excellent service. Choose from an exquisite menu that screams sophistication, and enjoy one of the best meals you’re likely to have during your time in Oahu. Although the dishes here are by no means cheap, they are of a very high standard, and once you have chosen from the impressive menu, you will get ready to dine in style as you watch the sun go down.
Uncle Bo’s Pupu Bar & Grill
Found at 559 Kapahulu Ave, Honolulu, Oahu, Uncle Bo’s Pupu Bar & Grill is a great place to eat. Serving American-style dishes and seafood, this eatery is a lot more upmarket on the inside than you would think. With a glossy décor, works of art hanging on the walls, and separate sections for large and small tables, this Bar & Grill is a good place to eat.
You could be forgiven for thinking that you’ll be offered reasonably tasty dishes that you would find in almost any Bar & Grill. The food here is actually really good, surprisingly good in fact. Made with a lot of care and presented just as well as it would be in an upmarket restaurant if you want to dine out in style without paying a high price, visit Uncle Bo’s Pupu Bar & Grill. Open every day from 5 pm to 1 am, you may need to make a reservation as the restaurant tends to get quite busy.
Beet Box Cafe
Situated at 66-443 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, Oahu, the Beet Box Cafe is proud to serve some very tasty American-style dishes along with vegetarian meals too. The Beet Box is a very friendly and relaxed place to be and has a good food and drinks menu. The décor consists of different coloured wood running up and down the walls, with a few surfboards hanging up high, reminding you that you’re in Oahu.
The Beet Box Cafe is a great place to dive into if you’re feeling a little scorched by the sun as the ceiling fans will be spinning nicely and providing that much-needed gentle breeze. The food here is very good, and you can get some rather unique dishes such as the Beirut Burger, the Tortilla Soup, and the Rio Bowl. If you’re looking to eat somewhere that has a relaxed atmosphere and good food, this is the place to visit.
There are many places in Oahu that allow you to enjoy a good meal, but we believe that the above five eateries are the very best. Offering an impressive menu, a good atmosphere and good portion sizes, when you visit one of these eateries you know you’re going to have a good time. Enjoy a spot of fine dining at La Mer, sample some freshly made meals at The Elephant Shack, and try something tasty at the Waialua Bakery. Don’t forget to visit the Beet Box Cafe and snack on some unique dishes, before heading to Uncle Bo’s Pupu Bar & grill for a surprisingly good meal. We all love to dine out when we’re on vacation, and Oahu offers many opportunities to do just this. So get ready to eat your way around beautiful Oahu.
