What Is HEP 5 Osaka?
HEP Five Osaka is located in Umeda, and it was first built in 1998. “HEP” stands for “Hankyu Entertainment Park” and the “Five” stands for the Hankyu Five complex, which was originally in this area.
HEP Five is a huge commercial complex; it has over 170 shops, including amusement centers, restaurants, and accessory shops. As you can imagine, it’s extremely popular with the young crowd. Every year, it gets around 17 million visitors!
This complex is very hard to miss. Not only is it a mainly white building with striking red accents, but on top is something everyone will see: a red Ferris wheel.
Once you get inside, you’ll see the iconic giant red whale that’s hung up in the atrium. It’s over 65 feet in length, so you definitely won’t miss it! Make sure to snap a picture with this HEP Five mascot.
About the HEP Five Ferris Wheel
The HEP Five Osaka Ferris wheel is over 246 feet in diameter, and at its highest point, it’s over 347 feet off the ground. This means that when you get on, you’ll be able to get an excellent view of downtown Osaka, as well as Mount Ikoma.
You’ll be pleased to know that every gondola has air conditioning. So even if you visit in the summer, you’ll stay nice and cool while enjoying the ride.
There are helpful stickers in the gondola that tell you what you’ll see on each side, so you can make the most of your ride by paying attention to them. Each ride will take about 15 minutes.
The HEP Five Ferris Wheel is open every day from 11:00 am until 11:00 pm, with last entry being 10:45 pm. The admission fee is 500 yen
How to Get to HEP Five
It’s very easy to get to HEP Five. Take the railway to Osaka station and walk just 5 minutes to Kita-ku.
Again, it’s a very hard-to-miss complex, so you should be able to navigate very easily after you get out of the station. If not, then you can always ask someone on the street; practically everyone should know of HEP Five and should be able to point you in the right direction.
