Christmas time is expensive – none of us will ever deny that! Most of us have to work with a strict budget at Christmas time, and we tend to get used to that as each Christmas comes and goes. However, that doesn’t make the Christmas spirit die down, and we always want to go over and above for our loved ones!
But maybe we could make this Christmas a little bit different? Maybe this year, you could work with some of the little ways we can all supplement our incomes during the first period? It’s easier than it sounds, and with the suggestions below, we just know you’ll find a money making method that’ll work for you!
Pick Up a Small Side Job
Sure, the Christmas holidays are coming, but you’ve still got the chance to put in a couple of shifts beforehand to help you supplement your income before the big day. And don’t worry, you don’t have to go out there and interview for a position that’ll only last for the festive period. As long as you’ve got internet access and a bit of time on your hands, this idea could be a great fit for you.
For example, you could use your professional skills in something like marketing, or your experience in a specific niche, to start doing content writing here and there. Say you know a lot about gambling and/or casinos in general – take some time to scan job boards for someone looking for this kind of expertise and then put your name forward.
If you can do a couple of jobs like this here and there, not only do you make money right now, but you also build the reputation you need to continue doing it for the year ahead. And it’s entirely up to you where and when you complete a job like this, which can make any anniversaries and birthdays coming up a lot easier on the budget as well!
Head Online
Going online in the month before Christmas won’t make up your entire festive budget, but it will help those pennies go a lot further. After all, one afternoon doing surveys using a dedicated website and you could have an extra $20 in the bank by the next day, and that’s at least another pack of decorations you can now afford!
But it’s not just surveys you can do online – there are many ways to make money from home, and depending on how much time you’ve got on your hands right now, you’ll be able to find something to suit you. Of course, you’re never going to get big bucks in just a couple of afternoons, but the more you use money making websites, the more supplemental cash you can sock away in time for putting the stockings up.
And if you decide that you quite like making a bit of extra cash here and there, you could also think about taking this money making method long term. Maybe it’s time for you to start your own blog? You could write all about how much supplemental income you’ve been able to make in time for Christmas, which is a topic many people would be interested in right now!
Sell Your Old Clutter
If you’ve got some old items sitting around your house, why not clean them up and put them up for auction? Seeing as Christmas is coming, you’ve got a strong chance of making a good sale on Ebay right now – one person’s trash is another’s treasure, after all. Whether you want to get rid of clothes, shoes, vintage items, old electronics, or Lego kits you’ll never build again, you can sell them for at least a couple dollars a pop.
So, take a couple of hours to dig out any and all storage boxes and see what’s in there that you’ll never use again. Ask yourself a couple of questions about each item: are they in good condition? Could they be used by someone else? Put them online and let other people take their pick. And remember, there’s a big bonus to selling your old clutter round the house: you make room for all the presents your family will unwrap this year!
Christmas doesn’t have to break the bank each year. If you’re expecting this festive season to be more expensive than others that have come before, make sure you take inspiration from the points above and put a money making and saving plan into action.
