I worked for the federal government. I had this guy on the line who was a total nutjob. I thought I had put the mute button on and I said to my co-worker. “Hey, any tips on getting a nut off the line”. Yeah, apparently the mute button was not on. I was mortified. I never meant to hurt the guy and I felt horrible.

I was on the phone with my boss telling him all about how I had been working on the project all day when my nephew yelled “Are you coming back out to the pool?” Totally busted.

I have definitely said the wrong thing to a client. I once mentioned to a client we had about us closing the office that serviced them before it had been “officially” decided. It did not go over well.

I was on the phone with a client on my cell phone at home. My adult children were at home and my daughter didn’t realize I was on the phone and she made reference to an inside joke that is a little on the colorful side. And the client heard. It was extremely awkward.
