My son loves dinosaurs, so of course he is always thrilled to watch Barney! His favorite episode out of the collection was “Little Red Rockin Hood.” In this episode Barney tells the story how Little Red Riding Hood became Little Red Rockin Hood. The story begins in the big city where there lived a wolf (B.J.) that liked to sing and wanted to be a rock “n” roll star. However, because he sang a little different than other people in the city no one would sing with him.
Out in the country lived Little Red Riding Hood. She also likes to sing and when she grows up wants to be a country music star. Her grandpa owned a place where everyone liked to come to and sing. Little Red Riding Hood decided to join her grandpa’s band.
On the way there she met up with the wolf who asked her to take him to Grandpa’s Place. She refused to take him along with her. Convinced his music was better than hers, the wolf decided to try to get there before Little Riding Hood did.
They both arrived at Grandpa’s Place and tried to persuade grandpa that their music choice was better than the other. However, Grandpa liked them both equally and the combined the music together to create Country Rock.
The story had a good message that everyone is different and has something wonderful to contribute. It was filled with lots of singing and dancing to get preschoolers up and moving.
Barney & Friends is one of the top-rated preschool shows today and can be viewed on PBS KIDS and Sprout.
