I just received this email today from Joshua Levin who is producing a film on Haiti’s agricultural crisis and the grassroots sustainable agricultural recovery movement emerging there. Josh believes strongly that “Haiti is an amazing test-case of the failed paradigms of the past,” and he is making this film both to “promote a new path for Haiti, as well as leverage this “teachable moment” for the world.”
Josh and Matthew (Director) have already produced an intro video explaining more about “Hands That Feed” and they are looking for any feedback plus support on the project.
What do you think? I believe this is a much needed documentary film and we all could learn something from Haiti’s collapse. You have to remember, Haiti was not always a impoverished country. Haiti was once a rich and powerful French colony called Saint-Dominique. The country supplied a quarter of all of France’s wealth through the 18th century and was food self-sufficient until the early 1980’s. Now Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas and two-thirds of the population live on $2 or less per day. Its been reported many Haitians are eating cookies, made of dirt, to suppress their hunger. VERY SAD!
Josh and Matthew are seeking to raise a raise a sum of $15,000 to cover costs of an initial 2-3 week shoot in Haiti. Right now they stand at $8, 053 with 100 backers and need to reach their goal by Monday Aug 2, 11:59pm EDT or the project will not be funded. They are looking for any help they can get. Please spread the word about “Hands That Feed” and support this documentary any way you can. More information about the film and how to make a pledge can be found at handsthatfeed.com.
