It’s almost time for the NY State Fair! I can’t wait to go this year. The 12 day event (August 26-Sept) is filled with delicious food, fun exhibits, animals, parades, rides, fireworks, and popular entertainers! I LOVE IT!

Warning!
Last year the fair featured the famous band Shinedown for free. My hubby, daughter, son (who was just not even two at the time) and myself were near the court when the concert was scheduled to begin. Within the matter of seconds a crowd formed and we couldn’t move from the area. My son was in his stroller and I was so scared he was going to be crushed! I immediately removed him from his stroller and carried him close to my chest, but I was frightened the whole time. There were drunk individuals falling over and pushing. My hubby had to take the empty stroller and force his way through the crowd to make a path for us to get out. I vowed never to bring my son to a free show again that did not have proper authority to manage the crowd and actual seating. I don’t recommend anyone to take a young child near the Chevy Court when there is a popular band playing for free. This year I predict 30 Seconds to Mars will bring in an enormous swarm of young people who have been indulging in alcohol and are excited to see Jared Leto perform.
The State Fair Grandstand
The State Fair Grandstand is an outdoor area which has a roof that only covers the top upper level seating sections, all events are held rain or shine and is for ticket holders only. The 2010 shows include famous artists such as Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Aerosmith, Tim McGraw, Rush, and more! Purchase tickets NOW, because these shows will sell out fast!
“Tickets for all State Fair Grandstand shows/events are available at The New York State Fair Box Office, Ticketmaster retail outlet locations which includes the Oncenter Box Office in Syracuse, online at Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone sales at 1-800-745-3000 or 1-866-448-7849. The New York State Fair Box Office will be open weekdays from 9:00am to 4:30pm.
Tickets for people with special needs – including those who are hearing impaired, use a wheelchair or have difficulty doing stairs – will go on sale at the same time as general seating tickets. See our Special Needs page for more information.
Tickets purchased for any grandstand concert/show allows for free admission the day of that show for the ticket holder. Children must be ages 12 or younger to be eligible for any show/event children’s price. Children ages 2 and under that sit on an adult’s lap do not need a ticket.”
