Chances are you have a little yellow box filled with a naturally occurring substance found in all living things in your cabinet that can be used for countless of household and personal care uses. What am I talking about? Arm & Hammer Baking Soda of course! Baking Soda ( sodium bicarbonate) comes from trona ore found in ancient lake beds beneath the high plains deserts of the central Midwest and helps regulate your pH balance. This extremely versatile, environmentally safe and highly effective, yet gentle cleaner is an excellent alternative to replace other household and personal items which may have ingredients harmful to your family, pets, and the environment. It can be used for all kinds of things like cleaning and deodorizing spills or accidents on carpets, getting off tough dried-on foods, removing dirt and grime from no wax and tile floors, lifting coffee and teas stains off mugs, to bake sweet treats, and so much more! Not to mention, it’s perfect for making at home spa treatments to soothe your body and mind for just pennies!
Arm & Hammer Baking Soda, through Mom Central, sent me a wonderful beauty basket filled with items to create a relaxing spa experience at home. The basket included box and designer shaker of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda along with how-to’s to recreate spa treatments at home; an aromatherapy candle, organic tea bags and a tea cup to create a spa experience; a nail kit, nail polish, lavender oil for a manicure/pedicure; and a terrycloth hair wrap and organic wash cloth for a facial.
The basket couldn’t have come at a better moment, because I definitely needed some pampering after going through the stress of all the holiday preparation plus activities a few weeks ago and now the dreaded TAXES. UGH! Plus, my very spirited toddler has been driving me crazy and I needed to take time out to spend with my thirteen year old daughter who needed attention too. Having a fun night trying out homemade beauty recipes was a great way for her and I to connect and enjoy each other’s company. I lit the candle, poured her and myself a cup of tea, and made the baking soda “Facial Glow” and “Brightening Manicure” recipes below. We had a blast! I plan on trying the rest of the beauty tips throughout the following week.
Do yourself a favor and test the beauty tips below. You might just find out you can’t live without one of them and being a box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda costs less than $1 – you don’t have too! Affordable, effective, environmentally friendly, and SAFE! How can you beat that?

I love using it for my hubbies shirts. They get that yucky yellow stink under them, so I make a paste with Arm and Hammer and a bit of vinegar. I brush it on, let sit for a bit, then launder in hot water. This works wonders!

I have just started a personal campaign to love my feet a bit more from now on, but I also prefer natural cleansers and exfoliators. The pedicure ideas here are perfect for what I need to treat myself now and then. Might I add that other rough spots — like knees and elbows — might benefit from the treatment? Thanks for the tips!

Another good job! I learned a few new things to do with my Arm & Hammer. You made it sound like it really works. I have heard oh use baking soda but thought they were a little “off”! I guess the were right. I’ll be saving some money too. My only question was with the hand cleaning is that 3 parts A&H to 1 part hand soap or added to the usual amount? Three parts makes it sound like 1 part. Nice Job!
